Raz and Kaamber huddled for warmth in the defunct balloon carriage until they were attacked by a Frost Giant and its Winter Wolves. They were saved by a magical hammer-throwing Halfling Barbarian called Yara Goodleaf.
The next day, Black Acacia sailed into view above, but Kaamber’s joy at seeing his skyship was short-lived when Konnifer introduced herself as the new captain. She told them lies about Salbrizaar being killed by the O’Blesseds and Theren falling victim to the sky pirates. Lastly, Kaamber’s old crew had deserted, she said, leaving the skyship to her.
Returning to Cascaveda with Yara joining the party, Konnifer put out a call for more adventurers. The call was answered by Ramona Geminov, the 16-year old Wizard daughter of Cascaveda’s most powerful Necromancer and her nurse and protector, Petrika Briasa. The heir to the Geminov Estate also had a trio of well-tailored zombies for companions.
Black Acacia sailed for a week looking for the Vortex of Worlds, by which the Pocket Plane of Grimanski could be reached. Once there, the adventurers needed to appease Chasme, Demon Princess of Parasites and her flocks of Stirges, and Konnifer handed over the Scepter of Swarms and a jeweled skull.
Knowing this was a one-way trip, Konnifer also promised Chasme the lives of her crew, free to collect once the party had leapt into the swirling supernatural cyclone that is the Vortex of Worlds.
