February 15, 2020

One morning, Raz, Gloucester and Naliyi found a letter from Juan explaining that he was leaving, unwilling to put up with the dangers the party obviously attracted. The trio carried on into the Jazili Mountains, following the winding road to Sadran and, hopefully, the nesting place of the Roc.

In Sadran, they met Theren, an Elf Ranger who served the late Baron. He knew the habits of the Roc and where it nested on Mount Zebas. He joined the party and they hired a family of sherpas, the Luperaj Brothers, to guide them there. As it happened, they were already commissioned to guide a Dragonborn Monk, Zyastan Mora, to the same place, and so it became an expedition.

Meeting Salbrizaar.

En route to the mountaintop, the adventurers met a Tiefling Wizard named Salbrizaar lost in the wilderness and they took him under their wing. When they were attacked later by a Hill Giant and werewolves, Salbrizaar proved his worth as an ally. Disturbingly, the dead werewolves reverted to human form as the now-slain Luperaj Brothers.

Hill Giant melee.

The party was close enough to Mount Zebas to see the legendary bird swoop in at sunset and they hustled to reach it using Theren’s Broom of Flying to ferry each party member one at a time. When there was only Raz and Gloucester left waiting, more werewolves attacked and the Sorcerer gave his life in a massive Fireball blast that killed enough of them that Raz could safely hide until Theren came back for her.

The top of The Spire.

Once everyone was reunited on the Roc’s nest, they found ways to tie themselves into the hide and feathers of the titanic beast so they could ride it to the Spire when it woke the next dawn. The daylong flight ended with the monster alighting atop a gigantic bungalow on one tiny island at the top of The Spire where a Cloud Giant lived. He was not pleased to see them.
